Two Detroit-area men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a high-profile robbery at a St. Louis County jewelry store, where luxury Rolex watches were stolen. Kordaryl Cross, 35, received a 57-month sentence, while Dajuan Marcellus, 34, was sentenced to 37 months in October. Both men were also ordered to pay restitution totaling $344,300, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The robbery unfolded on January 10, 2023, when Cross purchased sledgehammers from a Missouri retailer. The tools were later used to smash the display cases at an Ellisville jewelry store. The following day, Marcellus, along with at least one other accomplice, broke into the store, stealing multiple Rolex watches. Cross was involved in coordinating the operation, keeping watch while the robbery took place. The stolen watches were later transported to Illinois, while the Dodge Ram truck used in the crime was abandoned in a parking garage.
Both men were already on supervised release for separate robbery cases in Michigan at the time of the heist. They pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property. Their previous criminal records contributed to the length of their sentences.
The investigation was led by the Ellisville Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Gwendolyn Carroll handling the prosecution. As the sentencing was finalized, Cross and Marcellus were ordered to begin serving their time in a federal institution, marking another chapter in their troubled histories with the law.
