Authorities are on the hunt for a suspect who drove a stolen vehicle through a JCPenney store at Sunrise Mall early Sunday morning, stealing jewelry before fleeing the scene.
Around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, police were alerted by a security guard to a burglary in progress at the JCPenney store. However, when officers arrived, they found the store empty, with no suspects on the premises.
Investigators say the suspect drove a black Chevy Silverado through the store, targeting the jewelry department. After stealing an undetermined amount of jewelry, the suspect sped out of the store by crashing through another exit, leaving the scene.
The stolen vehicle was later found south of the city limits. Police determined that the Silverado had been taken from the Roseville Auto Mall either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect, who was seen exiting the truck in surveillance footage. However, no description of the individual has been released.
The Citrus Heights Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
