Cartier Expands Nature Sauvage Collection with Bold New Necklaces

by Henry

When Cartier unveiled its latest high jewelry collection, Nature Sauvage, at an extravagant ball in May at the Grand Hall of Vienna’s Austrian National Library, one thing stood out: the big necklace remains the pinnacle of high jewelry. While the collection also featured lavish bracelets—such as a Panthère piece that coiled around the wrist and hand, adorned with a striking sugarloaf emerald—and a Panthère brooch worn on the shoulder, it was the necklace that truly dominated. These necklaces ranged from bold Tutti Frutti bibs crafted from carved emeralds, sapphires, and rubies to diamond-set designs with giant drops of rubellite and aquamarine, along with onyx-and-diamond collars that paid homage to Cartier’s Art Deco legacy. This vintage influence was echoed by Sofia Coppola’s coral-and-diamond lariat, which was worn at the event.

Now, Cartier is continuing its focus on dramatic necklaces with an expansion of the Nature Sauvage collection. The maison has introduced four new colliers that highlight graphic designs, optical illusions, and, of course, major gemstones, including a key piece featuring a remarkable sugarloaf emerald.
