Kim Kardashian has long been known for her fashion choices, often wearing pieces with deep historical significance. Over the years, she has worn items belonging to figures like Marilyn Monroe, Janet Jackson, and Jackie Kennedy. Her personal collection includes high-value items such as Elizabeth Taylor’s diamond and jade bracelet by Lorraine Schwartz. In 2022, she even acquired the white fedora Michael Jackson wore in his 1988 music video for Smooth Criminal to complete her daughter North’s Halloween costume.
On Saturday, during the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles, Kardashian unveiled her latest iconic fashion item—a diamond-encrusted cross pendant that once belonged to Princess Diana. Kardashian purchased the necklace for £163,800 (approximately $212,000) in January 2023 during the final moments of a Sotheby’s auction. This event marked the first time the necklace had been worn publicly since Diana’s passing in 1997.
The cross, featuring diamonds weighing about 5.25 carats, measures 5.4 inches by 3.7 inches. Made by Garrard, the renowned British court jewelers, the pendant dates back to the early 20th century. It was purchased in the 1980s by Palestinian-British businessman Naim Attallah, who frequently lent the piece to Princess Diana. One of the most famous occasions was in 1987, when Diana wore the necklace with a matching maroon velvet Catherine Walker gown at a charity gala supporting Birthright, an organization dedicated to protecting human rights during pregnancy and childbirth.
