Tiffany & Co. has partnered with Shanghai-based multidisciplinary artist Oscar Wang for a special artisanal collaboration to honor the Chinese zodiac’s Year of the Snake, which begins on Jan. 29. The limited edition collection features a selection of gifting objects, including ceramic decorative cases and jewelry holders glazed in Tiffany’s signature blue, exclusively available to the brand’s top clients.
Among the standout pieces, the jewelry holder showcases two snakes intertwining to form hearts, paying tribute to Tiffany’s iconic open-heart design. This motif also incorporates the auspicious symbolism of the number eight in Chinese culture, which represents wealth and fortune. The jewelry case is a sculptural interpretation of this design, with a Chinese knot placed in the center to symbolize unity and luck.
Additionally, Wang created a Möbius strip-inspired snake charm resembling a Chinese knot, which will be included in the packaging and red packets distributed across 28 countries during the Chinese New Year period. This collaboration marks the first time Tiffany & Co. has worked with a Chinese artist in its 188-year history.
Wang shared his excitement about the opportunity, expressing how the collaboration offers a platform to present Chinese culture through a modern lens. “I hope this is the beginning of a collaborative relationship that evolves with localization while projecting our culture internationally,” he said.
The porcelains for the collection were crafted in Dehua, Fujian province, renowned for its centuries-old porcelain production, including some of the finest Blanc de Chine pieces in the world. Wang explained the importance of choosing Dehua for its reliable supply chain and expert craftsmanship.
Wang’s passion for ceramics is evident, as he has been incorporating traditional Chinese craft into his modern designs. Earlier this month, he showcased a series of plates inspired by the five elements of Chinese philosophy at Harrods, selling out on the first day.
With a background in interior design from London’s Chelsea College of Arts, Wang has made a name for himself globally by blending Chinese heritage with contemporary fashion and art. He has collaborated with major brands such as Fendi and Li-Ning, and has created limited-edition teapots with artist Daniel Arsham.
This partnership with Tiffany & Co. showcases Wang’s dedication to preserving and modernizing Chinese traditions, with a focus on artistry, craftsmanship, and international appeal.
