Christian Caine Design, a high-end jeweler based in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, is preparing to open a new retail store in downtown Winchester. The full-service store will occupy the former Wells Fargo building at 201 N. Loudoun St., which was purchased by local couple Ron and Elizabeth McGehee in September 2021 for $2 million. Wells Fargo closed its Old Town branch and vacated the property in May 2021.
Realtor H. Paige Manuel of OakCrest Commercial Real Estate, who manages the building on behalf of the McGehees, described the new store as a “beautiful design center.” The jeweler will lease the entire 4,000-square-foot first floor of the building, which previously housed the lobby of the Wells Fargo branch.
Renovations to the first floor are set to begin next month and are expected to take four months. If the timeline holds, the jewelry store is scheduled to open sometime this summer.
Christian Caine Design, known for its award-winning jewelry, specializes in custom engagement and wedding rings, as well as unique necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and candles. Founded in 1990 in Shepherdstown, the company also operates a European design studio in Nice, France.
In addition to the new location, Christian Caine currently operates a smaller design center and retail outlet in the lobby of the George Washington Hotel in downtown Winchester. Manuel confirmed that the George Washington Hotel location will remain open after the new store opens.
“It’s great to see a new retailer coming to downtown,” Manuel said.
