Farmer’s Jewelry Marks 75 Years of Family Legacy in Chevy Chase

by Henry

Emma Lykins Necessary and her cousin Will Farmer are the third generation to continue the legacy of Farmer’s Jewelry, a beloved family-owned business in Chevy Chase. Growing up in the store alongside their parents, Emma and Will have seen it all—from sweeping floors to sizing rings, they’ve been immersed in every aspect of the jewelry business since childhood.

“It’s really sweet. I like it when people say they remember me,” Emma said, reflecting on the personal connections they’ve built with long-time customers. “It’s fun that I saw them come in when I was little, and now I get to help them pick out something for their family.”

Farmer’s Jewelry, founded 75 years ago on Euclid Avenue in Chevy Chase, has been a cornerstone of the community, adapting over time while staying rooted in the same customer service values that made it successful in the 1950s. The antique cash register, still displayed in the corner of the store, is a reminder of the past, though it no longer works.

As the company embraces modern tools like text orders and online sales, the Farmer family looks forward to the next 75 years with excitement and anticipation for what the future holds.
