Second-generation jeweler Pacharee Sophie Scheumers-Rogers discusses her passion for designing with pearls, the emotional connections behind her pieces, and her collaboration with Phillip Lim.
Growing up surrounded by gemstones, Scheumers-Rogers was deeply influenced by her father, a gemologist in Thailand known for creating a special heat treatment for rubies used throughout the industry. He was also a collector, trader, and designer. Watching her father work, Scheumers-Rogers was naturally drawn to jewelry design and eventually launched her own brand, Pacharee, almost by chance.
“Natural pearls are incredible,” she shares, speaking of her favorite stone. “Did you know they’re actually living? They need to breathe, or they lose their luster.” She explains that her childhood exposure to various gemstones led her to appreciate less common stones, those that are unique and organic. “They feel more special to me,” she adds.
Currently, in Hong Kong, the Swiss-based Thai designer is showcasing Pacharee’s latest collection, created in collaboration with Phillip Lim. This new collection, the most extensive yet to be displayed outside of its Bangkok showroom, is debuting at the Asaya Boutique at the Rosewood Hong Kong.
