Founded in 1945 by Jack and Jeanne Shiels with just three employees in Adelaide’s Central Market Arcade, Shiels Jewellery has grown from a small family-run business into a national retail leader. In 1977, Albert Bensimon and his wife Nyra took the helm, driving the company’s expansion into a network of more than 50 stores across Australia, with a dedicated team of 600 professionals continuing to thrive in today’s competitive retail environment.
Director Toby Bensimon reflects on the company’s 80-year journey, saying, “Reaching 80 years in business is a remarkable achievement, especially in today’s challenging retail environment. Shiels has evolved alongside our customers, offering jewellery that resonates with Australians at every stage of life and always at unbeatable prices.”
Known for its vast selection, Shiels offers over 15,000 jewellery items both online and in-store, with each store carrying between 3,800 and 7,000 products. Toby added, “Our team of in-house experts searches the globe for the latest, beautifully crafted designs you won’t find elsewhere. We oversee a large Australian manufacturing base, and our jewellery is also crafted in Europe and sourced from Asia, including our lab-grown diamonds, to provide a diverse and affordable range.”
