A woman suspected of stealing around $80,000 worth of jewelry from an 86-year-old woman in her care has been arrested, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).

The investigation began in late October 2024, when deputies responded to a call about a theft at a home on Avenue 292 in Visalia. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that several pieces of jewelry belonging to the elderly woman were missing.

TCSO officials identified four caregivers as potential suspects, with 28-year-old Sandra Jarman of Visalia emerging as one of the main suspects.

Detectives traced the stolen jewelry to several pawn shops in Visalia, where they found that Sandra had sold multiple pieces. While some of the jewelry had already been scrapped, a $10,000 diamond pendant was recovered and returned to the victim on Wednesday.

Using cell phone data, detectives tracked Sandra’s whereabouts and served a search warrant at her Visalia home on February 13. Sandra voluntarily turned herself in at the TCSO office on Wednesday.

She was booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility on charges including burglary, grand theft, elder abuse, embezzlement, and possession of stolen property.
