Last May in Vienna, Austria, Cartier unveiled the first chapter of its Nature Sauvage high jewellery collection, featuring elegant panthers, secretive beetles, a playful flamingo, and other stunning creatures. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey into the animal kingdom, where Cartier’s exceptional craftsmanship brought wild animals to life in precious, bejewelled forms. In November, the collection expanded in Shanghai, where Cartier introduced the second chapter, further showcasing its dedication to blending the beauty of nature with refined elegance.
The launch took place at the Bund City Hall Plaza in Shanghai’s Bund district, which was transformed into a lush, natural paradise. The setting perfectly complemented the 36 new high jewellery pieces and two high jewellery objects, continuing the collection’s theme of animals hidden within their surroundings. The pieces were displayed across three distinct themed areas: Twirl with the Wind, Treasures of Land, and Shapes of Water. These areas were designed to reflect different aspects of nature—a bamboo forest, the vibrant Rainbow Mountains known for their colourful rock formations, and the icy beauty of glaciers.
While the panther remains an iconic symbol of Cartier, the Nature Sauvage collection introduces a wider variety of creatures, each brought to life in precious materials. One standout piece, the Vamana necklace, reimagines the majestic elephant in a stylized, geometric form, with delicate openwork details emphasizing its graphic lines. Elephants have been featured in Cartier designs since the early 20th century, often depicted in more naturalistic styles, but the Vamana necklace offers a fresh, modern interpretation.
