U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers announced Thursday that they seized a shipment of counterfeit designer jewelry on March 4 at the FedEx Express Consignment Operation hub in Indianapolis.
The officers found 148 pieces of counterfeit jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, all bearing the protected trademarks of well-known luxury designers.
Among the seized items were 93 bracelets marked with Cartier logos, 15 necklaces and 15 pairs of earrings with Tiffany & Co. logos, 10 pairs of earrings bearing Cartier markings, nine bracelets branded with Hermes logos, and six bracelets displaying Louis Vuitton logos.
If these items had been authentic, they would have been valued at $4.62 million, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The release did not specify whether anyone is facing criminal charges related to the seized counterfeit goods.
The shipment, which originated in China, was on its way to a residence in Nashville, Tennessee.
This announcement follows a similar seizure of counterfeit jewelry in Indianapolis that took place earlier in January.
