Athena Calderone’s first-ever jewelry collection, created in collaboration with John Hardy, brings together a striking blend of art deco and Streamline Moderne influences—geometric and linear yet opulent. The 17-piece capsule collection, launched on April 15, features elevated shapes and an intriguing contrast of hard gemstones with softer materials like silk rope.
Known for her EyeSwoon lifestyle brand, which encompasses interior design, cooking, and entertaining, Calderone worked with John Hardy’s creative chairman, Reed Krakoff, to create pieces that speak to both organic shapes and luxurious materials. The collection, which ranges in price from $995 for a silver and pavé diamond ring to $6,200 for a 14k gold lariat necklace with diamonds, draws inspiration from the simplicity and elegance of 1920s and 1930s design.
“During my research, I was drawn to the streamlined forms and materials of the era,” Calderone shared. “The minimalist beauty of the 1920s and 1930s deeply resonated with me, and it naturally shaped the timeless nature of this collection.”
Krakoff emphasized that the collaboration was “fluid and highly collaborative,” blending Calderone’s distinctive style with John Hardy’s use of sustainable materials and volume. He sees the collaboration as part of John Hardy’s broader evolution, reflecting its commitment to modern luxury while maintaining a connection to artistry and craftsmanship.
“Athena was the perfect partner to help us reach a consumer interested in style, fashion, and travel,” Krakoff noted. Their collaboration was first sparked when he appeared on Calderone’s podcast, More Than One Thing, during his time at Tiffany & Co.
