Lightbox Jewelry, the lab-grown diamond brand owned by De Beers Group, has announced a significant price reduction. The brand’s standard range of lab-grown diamonds will now be available for as low as $500 per carat, down from the previous $800 per carat.
The new pricing structure comes after extensive testing and market research. Lightbox will offer three pricing tiers: $500 per carat for IJ color stones, $600 per carat for GH color stones, and $900 per carat for DEF color stones. The highest quality stones, previously priced at $1,500 per carat, will now be $900. All diamonds will feature a guaranteed minimum “very good” cut and VS clarity, with DEF stones having an “excellent” cut.
Sandrine Conseiller, CEO of De Beers Brands, explained the rationale behind the price drop. “The wholesale prices of lab-grown diamonds are declining, and we are pleased to pass these savings to our customers,” she said. “These lower prices keep our brand competitive in this fast-evolving sector while maintaining high-quality standards. Lightbox remains committed to transparent pricing and educating consumers about the true nature of lab-grown diamonds.”
Conseiller noted the growing price gap between natural and lab-grown diamonds, highlighting that a high-quality two-carat lab-grown diamond from Lightbox now costs about 10% of a similar natural diamond. She emphasized that this trend supports the use of lab-grown diamonds in fashion jewelry, allowing for innovative designs like the blue and pink Lightbox stones.
“We believe it’s essential for consumers to understand that lab-grown diamonds are distinct products and do not hold the same enduring value as natural diamonds,” Conseiller added.
