Rajnath Singh Returns Silver Crown, Suggests Making Jewellery for Poor Family

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a heartwarming gesture on Thursday by returning a silver crown given to him during a public rally in Delhi’s Najafgarh area. Singh suggested that the crown be repurposed into anklets for the marriage of a girl from a poor family.

Singh was in Najafgarh to campaign for BJP candidate Kamaljeet Sehrawat. Upon his arrival, former BJP legislator Ajeet Singh Kharkhari offered him a silver crown. Singh recommended selling the crown after the Lok Sabha elections and using the proceeds to make anklets for a poor family’s daughter’s wedding.

During the rally, Singh criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He remarked, “We had heard a lot about work-from-home and work-from-office, but because of Kejriwal, we also heard about work-from-jail for the first time.” Singh pointed out that Kejriwal is the first Chief Minister in India to go to jail in a corruption case, which he claimed brought shame to Delhi’s residents.

Singh also dismissed the effectiveness of the ‘INDIA’ opposition bloc, which includes Congress, stating, “There is an alliance in Delhi, while in Punjab both parties are fighting against each other.” He accused Kejriwal of betraying his mentor Anna Hazare and questioned how Kejriwal could win the trust of Delhi’s people. Singh asserted that AAP has failed to deliver on its promises and criticized the Delhi government for not providing safety to women.

Singh further alleged that AAP is functioning as the ‘B’ team of Congress within the INDIA alliance.

Delhi’s seven parliamentary seats will go to polls in the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The contest will be fierce between the BJP and the INDIA bloc, comprising AAP and Congress. AAP and Congress are contesting in an alliance, with AAP running in four seats and Congress in three.

The parliamentary constituencies in Delhi are Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi, and West Delhi. The first five phases of polling were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. The next two rounds will be on May 25 and June 1, with the vote counting and results announcement on June 4.
