Self-Portrait, a fashion house based in London, has launched its debut jewellery collection, focusing on stylish accessories that echo the feminine elegance of bows. The collection introduces traditional symbols like pearl droplets and hearts, adding a playful touch to its jewellery offerings.
Designer Han Chong, who established Self-Portrait’s London store in 2018, explained the timing behind the launch: “We took our time experimenting with different sizes to create a collection that resonates with our audience.” He emphasized the versatility of the collection, aiming to provide sophisticated options for various occasions and personalities.
The collection features earrings, bangles, and brooches crafted in 18ct plated gold, designed to be both affordable and enjoyable to wear. “Using brass plated in 18ct gold and silver allowed us to play with shapes and incorporate our signature elements, such as rhinestones,” Chong noted. He highlighted the balance achieved between costume jewellery and fine craftsmanship, ensuring each piece maintains a sense of fun and flair.
Chong acknowledged the challenges of venturing into a new category but expressed satisfaction with the outcome: “I spent considerable time refining the designs with my team to uphold our standards of quality and attention to detail.” He stressed the importance of achieving an honest price point while meeting customer expectations.
Overall, Self-Portrait’s inaugural jewellery collection reflects a blend of creativity, meticulous design, and accessibility, offering women diverse options to complement their wardrobe choices from casual denim to elegant lace dresses.
