Located in Dhan Mill, Delhi, Zariin jewellery store blends tradition with modernity. Crafted by Ar. Anjali Aggarwal, founder and principal designer of Karigar Design Studio, the store is a testament to the harmonious marriage of history and contemporary design.
The client’s brief for Zariin focused on creating a unique retail experience that showcases the brand’s identity. The design needed to optimize the less than 250 sq.ft. space effectively, providing a sense of joy and calmness to visitors.
Meaningful and Modern
The store’s black and white façade exudes simplicity and sophistication. This color palette pays homage to traditional forms while integrating modern elements. The design draws inspiration from Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal, which not only influenced the façade but also guided the placement of display counters.
An Artistic Tale
Inside, the store unfolds like a carefully curated story. The subdued white interiors, with gentle yellow accents highlighting niches, bring each jewelry piece to life. The main design challenge was to optimize the small space while creating a mesmerizing façade and elaborate interior displays. This led to the idea of using a common wall for both internal and external displays with arched windows, blending tradition with contemporary design.
Embracing Nature
The color palette of black and white for the façade creates a striking look, while the white interiors with yellow accents highlight the jewelry pieces. Arches and a skylight enhance the aesthetic value by blending traditional and contemporary elements. The strategic placement of the skylight over an existing tree nods to ancient monuments, where nature seamlessly intertwines with architecture. This choice infuses the store with an aura that engages visitors in unfolding narratives.
For Ar. Anjali Aggarwal, passionate about meaningful design, the flagship store is more than a retail space. Inspired by the brand’s jewelry pieces that reflect India’s cultural heritage and vernacular traditions with a modern approach, her vision bridges the gap between old-world charm and contemporary minimalism. Every corner of the store whispers tales of creativity.
