Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebrations have been setting significant fashion trends, and her outfit at the mameru ceremony continued this tradition. Held at Antilia, the event marked the beginning of her wedding festivities. She wore a custom-made lehenga by Manish Malhotra, featuring ‘Durga shloka’ embroidery on the borders. Additionally, she accessorized with jewelry that her mother, Shaila Merchant, wore at her own mameru ceremony.
Designer Manish Malhotra shared photos of Radhika in her exquisite attire on social media platform X. “Gorgeous Radhika Merchant starts her wedding functions looking stunning in a custom-made vibrant bandini lehenga: Rai bandhej on a banarasi brocade in Rani pink. Classic embroidery in gold taar zardosi. Durga Maa shloka embroidered on the borders. 35 meters of bandhej used to make the ghagra. Blouse inspired by a vintage Koti,” he posted.
Stylist Rhea Kapoor also shared Radhika’s pictures, highlighting the sentimental value of her jewelry. “Beautiful Radhika at her mausalu in Manish Malhotra, wearing the jewels her mom wore at her mausalu (mameru),” she wrote.
About the Mameru Ceremony:
In a Gujarati wedding, several pre-wedding rituals take place, one of which is the mameru or mosalu ceremony. During this event, the bride’s maternal uncle (mama) gives her gifts. In some instances, this ritual is observed by the bride’s maternal aunt’s husband (mousa).
Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani are set to marry on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Before the wedding, the couple hosted two grand wedding ceremonies. The first took place in Jamnagar, and the second was a lavish four-day cruise across Europe organized by the Ambani family for their guests.
Prior to the mameru ceremony, the Ambanis also hosted a mass wedding for 50 underprivileged couples at the Reliance Corporate Park (RCP) in Navi Mumbai.
