Rajgarh: Police in Madhya Pradesh have apprehended three members of the Kadiya gang, suspected of stealing a jewellery bag from a luxury hotel in Jaipur during a wedding. The authorities seized valuables worth Rs 1.45 crore from the suspects, according to an official statement.
The theft occurred on August 8 at a five-star hotel in Jaipur, during a wedding event in the family of Naresh Gupta, a businessman from Secunderabad. Following the incident, the Rajgarh police launched an operation, forming seven teams based on intelligence received. The operation, which lasted 48 hours, led to the arrest of the gang members, said Additional Director General of Police Jaideep Prasad in a statement released on Sunday night.
The theft was captured on CCTV, revealing a minor accomplice fleeing with the jewellery bag. The Jaipur police, after reviewing the footage, alerted authorities in other states, Prasad said.
Acting on information from the Jaipur police, the Rajgarh police teams received a tip that the minor suspect was traveling with a Kanwar Yatra. The police detained the minor, who then provided information leading to the arrest of two additional suspects. The stolen valuables, valued at Rs 1.45 crore, were recovered from them.
The arrested individuals are members of the Kadiya gang, Prasad confirmed. He also noted that in the past six months, Rajgarh police have arrested 25 members of this gang, seizing goods worth Rs 4.37 crore.
