Newport Beach, CA – Truly Blessed Jewels, the fast-growing jewelry brand founded by self-taught designer Lisa Valenzuela, celebrated the grand opening of its second store in Southern California on November 22. The boutique’s debut in Newport Beach marks a return to Valenzuela’s hometown, a milestone she has eagerly anticipated since launching her business nearly a decade ago.
Though Valenzuela now resides in Arizona, her connection to Southern California remains strong. Born and raised in the region, she has infused her jewelry designs with the vibrant spirit of the California lifestyle, blending it with her appreciation for the desert’s beauty. The pieces she creates for Truly Blessed Jewels reflect this unique blend, capturing the essence of a “California girl meets desert goddess.”
A Dream Realized: The Grand Opening
The new boutique, located at 216 Marine Avenue in the heart of Newport Beach, offers a mix of familiar features from the brand’s first store in Scottsdale, Arizona, and some fresh additions. Like its predecessor, the Newport Beach store boasts on-site engraving, piercing services, and multiple permanent-jewelry stations. However, this location also introduces a well-stocked charm bar, allowing customers to customize their pieces and add a personal touch to their jewelry.
Valenzuela’s passion for customer service is at the heart of Truly Blessed Jewels’ success. Before opening the Newport Beach location, she had hosted several local pop-up events during visits to see family. This experience gave her valuable insight into the local customer base and the importance of building strong relationships with both tourists and long-time residents.
“I focus on customer service—people want to know that you know who they are,” Valenzuela explains. “We make sure everyone who comes in feels welcome. Every time someone checks out, we talk to them, get to know them. Everyone should have a memorable experience. If they’re in just for the weekend, we want them to come back again.”
Boutique Design Reflects Local Vibe
Designed to capture the essence of its oceanside location, the Newport Beach store features a light, airy aesthetic with wood tones and soft hues. The interior embraces a California lifestyle, offering an organic, relaxed atmosphere that reflects the coastal surroundings. Plush furnishings provide comfort for customers who sit to get permanent jewelry applied, while curvy shelves and mirrors add a playful, whimsical touch to the space.
Valenzuela envisions creating this same welcoming, personalized experience in all future Truly Blessed locations. As the brand continues to grow, she plans to replicate the Newport Beach and Scottsdale store model in additional cities in 2025 and beyond. “I wanted our shops to be a place where people feel comfortable, where they can truly make the jewelry their own,” Valenzuela says.
A Journey of Unexpected Growth
Valenzuela’s path to founding Truly Blessed Jewels began in 2012, when she decided to turn her passion for jewelry into a full-time career. Prior to starting her business, Valenzuela held various roles, including dance teacher, caterer, and event sales manager. Despite not having a formal business plan, she had a clear vision for her brand, focusing on classic chains, charms, and pendants.
“Jewelry is something I’ve always loved. I never planned for it to become my career, but when the idea struck, I just went for it,” Valenzuela says. “It’s a bit like how I design—I never have a clear plan. I just lay everything out and let the pieces speak to me.”
Truly Blessed Jewels took off in unexpected ways. After introducing permanent jewelry, the brand’s popularity soared, largely driven by social media. A video posted by the brand’s social media team, showing a couple getting “forever bracelets,” went viral. The video sparked an influx of appointments for permanent jewelry at the Scottsdale store, fueling the brand’s rapid growth.
“We didn’t have a business plan, but I had a sense of what it could become,” Valenzuela reflects. “When we posted that video of the couple, I had no idea it would take off the way it did. It was just a moment of inspiration that resonated with people.”
Philosophy: Embrace Your Uniqueness
Valenzuela’s philosophy on jewelry is simple yet empowering: wear what you want, when you want, and embrace your individuality. She encourages her staff and customers to experiment with their jewelry and to be original in their choices. For Valenzuela, jewelry is not just an accessory—it’s a form of self-expression.
“Don’t be a cut-and-paste girl,” she advises. “You never want to show up to prom in the same dress as someone else. Why? Because it’s embarrassing. Your jewelry should be the same way—it should reflect who you are and make you feel confident.”
Truly Blessed Jewels has built its reputation on offering high-quality, customizable pieces that allow individuals to express their unique style. With a focus on personal service, an inclusive atmosphere, and a fresh take on jewelry design, Valenzuela’s brand has found a devoted following.
As Truly Blessed continues to grow, the brand remains committed to its roots—creating jewelry that makes every customer feel truly blessed. The new Newport Beach location is just the beginning, as Valenzuela plans to expand the brand to more cities, spreading her message of individuality and self-expression to new audience.
