A daring ram raid at Fleur Jewellery in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, has left both the local community in shock and police appealing for information. The incident occurred late Thursday evening, just before 10 p.m. local time, when thieves used a silver Range Rover Evoque to crash into the front of the jewelry store. The impact of the vehicle smashing through the store’s facade sent debris and shattered glass across the floor.
Witnesses described hearing a “massive crash” before two hooded men quickly entered the store and began grabbing valuable items. According to Surrey Police, the thieves made a swift exit, fleeing the scene in a white getaway car driven by a third accomplice. No staff or customers were present at the time of the theft.
Local resident Craig Williamson, who witnessed the crime, recounted the chaotic scene: “At first I thought it was an accident. But then two boys came running out with two holdalls. It was crazy—it was madness. They were both wearing hooded jackets. They jumped into a white getaway car. It was a professional job—they were in and out in under two minutes.”
The force of the crash left the jewelry store’s front completely smashed, with glass scattered on the sidewalk and inside the store. Photos from the scene showed the Range Rover lodged in the store’s entrance, with its trunk open and valuables gone.
The partner of the store’s owner confirmed that no one was harmed during the incident but noted that the store would need time to recover from the damage. “Everyone is fine,” the partner said. “We just need to clean up.”
While the suspects have not been identified, authorities are using CCTV footage to track the perpetrators. The Range Rover involved in the raid has also been examined by police for clues.
Ram raids, in which vehicles are used to smash into stores for theft, have become a relatively common crime in the U.K. While specific statistics are difficult to gather due to varying police reporting practices, there has been an increase in such incidents in recent years, with younger criminals often behind the attacks.
