Australian jewellery chain Lovisa is set to make its debut in Cork, Ireland, with a new store opening on the iconic Patrick’s Street. The store will occupy the space previously held by GameStop at 47 Patrick’s Street, which has been vacant since the video game retailer closed its Irish stores in June 2023.
Lovisa, known for its fast fashion jewellery, has begun preparations with the installation of store signage and workers spotted painting the building. While the exact opening date has not been confirmed, job listings for a Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager were recently posted on the Lovisa website, signaling the impending launch.
Founded in 2010 in Australia, Lovisa has grown to more than 900 stores across 45 countries, offering a wide range of jewellery and accessories, including scarves, watches, brooches, and headbands. Some stores even feature in-house piercing studios. With the new Cork location, Lovisa will expand its presence in Ireland, joining existing outlets in Dublin, Limerick, Galway, and Belfast.
The new Lovisa store comes as a positive development for Patrick’s Street, following several recent closures. However, new businesses are also moving in, such as the upcoming Mountain Warehouse store on Opera Lane, slated to open in early 2025.
Meanwhile, plans for another jewellery store are underway on Winthrop Street, where the Neve Jewels Group is preparing to take over one of Gino’s former locations. The ongoing changes reflect the evolving retail landscape in Cork city centre.
