The municipality of Souli is taking significant steps to purchase and restore the building that once housed the first Bulgari store, according to Thanasis Danis, the Mayor of Souliou. The initiative aims to preserve the birthplace of Bulgari, the iconic luxury jewelry brand founded by Sotirios Bulgaris, who was born in Paramythia in 1857.
In a recent meeting held in Rome, Mayor Danis engaged with members of the Bulgari family and key company representatives to strengthen the historical ties between Paramythia and the luxury brand. “The Bulgari school is set to open this summer, and we are working to revive the original store that was founded by Sotirios Voulgaris,” said Mayor Danis. The restored venue will include a special floor dedicated to the Bulgari family’s history, featuring photographs and exhibits, including original jewelry pieces.
The Bulgari School-Museum Multipurpose Center is nearing completion and will officially open its doors this summer. The grand opening will be attended by members of the Bulgari family, along with distinguished guests from Greece and abroad.
Paramythia, a picturesque town in Epirus, holds significant historical value for the Bulgari family. Sotirios Bulgaris began his journey here before moving to Italy, where he founded Bulgari in Rome in 1884. Today, the brand is internationally renowned for its luxury jewelry and watchmaking.
Located at the foot of the Epirus mountains, Paramythia is known for its traditional architecture, historical sites, and stunning landscapes. This initiative aims to highlight the town’s cultural significance and its enduring connection to the Bulgari legacy.
During his visit to Rome, Mayor Danis met with several prominent figures from Bulgari, including Nikolaos Bulgaris, grandson of the founder and Vice President of Bulgari-LVMH Group; Monica Brannetti, Director of the Bulgari Historical Archive and Museum; and Matteo Morbidi, Director of Heritage and Philanthropic Initiatives.
