Qatar Museums (QM) is inviting visitors to explore the ‘Chaumet & Nature’ jewellery exhibition at M7, which will close on December 19. The exhibition, organized by Maison Chaumet in collaboration with QM, M7, and Qatar Creates, offers a unique glimpse into Chaumet’s 240-year legacy in jewellery design.
‘Chaumet & Nature’ showcases 107 exceptional pieces of jewellery alongside 111 stunning visual artworks, all of which reflect the Maison’s unparalleled craftsmanship. The collection celebrates the beauty of the natural world through Chaumet’s timeless designs.
Founded in 1780, Chaumet is one of France’s oldest and most renowned jewellery houses, with a rich history closely tied to the country’s cultural development. The brand’s legacy began with its first major client, Napoleon Bonaparte, for whom Chaumet’s founder, Marie-Étienne Nitot, designed a magnificent sword for his coronation.
Throughout its history, Chaumet has drawn inspiration from nature, capturing its essence in exquisite jewellery. The ‘Chaumet & Nature’ exhibition merges these iconic pieces with works from Qatar Museums, highlighting the shared history of both institutions, which dates back to the 1970s.
The exhibition also emphasizes M7’s role in connecting local talent with international brands. A notable example is the creation of Chaumet’s Arabic logo, which was developed in collaboration with Qatar-based designer Zainab AlShibani. AlShibani’s design blends Chaumet’s elegance with a spirit of innovation, symbolizing the union of tradition and modernity.
