Perrywinkle’s Fine Jewelry, located in Stateway Plaza, will temporarily close and reopen on January 31 with a new business model. The jewelry store will shift to a hybrid approach, operating with regular hours only on Mondays. During the rest of the week, it will be open by appointment, according to store manager Kendralee Kittelson.
Before the changes take effect, the store is holding a liquidation sale.
“We’re closing, but we’re not closing,” Kittelson said, clarifying that the shift would not mark the end of the business, but rather a change in how it operates.
When the store reopens in January, it will be open on Mondays for warranty work, cleaning, inspections, repairs, and Rhodium plating. For the rest of the week, Kittelson will meet customers by appointment, offering a more personalized service tailored to their needs.
“The customers already know what they want,” Kittelson explained. “I will bring in merchandise specifically for each customer, continuing to offer a more private, one-on-one shopping experience.”
As part of the transition, three staff positions will be phased out.
Perrywinkle’s, known for its handmade fine jewelry, also operates locations in Plattsburgh and Burlington, Vermont. In 2022, the store relocated to Stateway Plaza from the nearby Watertown Towne Center, a large retail complex anchored by a Target.
The jewelry store is owned by Bixlers, a historic jewelry business based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, founded in 1785. The jewelry sold at Perrywinkle’s is handcrafted and produced in Montreal.
