Despite a slowdown in the broader luxury industry, the high jewelry segment remains resilient, with luxury jewelry brands like Buccellati experiencing robust growth. According to Bain Altagamma’s Fall 2024 market study, high jewelry is outperforming other categories, prompting Buccellati to significantly expand its production capabilities.
Over the next three years, the Milan-based jeweler plans to increase its workforce by over 500 employees across seven workshops that produce jewelry, silverware, and watches. This expansion reflects Buccellati’s continued growth across key markets, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Buccellati’s jewelry production workshops are primarily based in Italy, with facilities in Milan, Como, and Valenza. The company also operates a silversmith factory in Zola Predosa, near Bologna, and a watchmaking facility in Chiasso, Switzerland.
The expansion will focus on several key locations, including the historic Via Brisa workshop in Milan and facilities in Valbrona. Additionally, Buccellati is acquiring two Gioj workshops in Valenza, Italy’s renowned jewelry hub. These workshops, known as Valenza 1 and M2M, will add 80 more artisans to Buccellati’s workforce once they move to a new, larger facility under construction, dubbed Valenza 2.
Nicolas Luchsinger, CEO of Buccellati, explained the significance of Valenza to the company’s growth: “Valenza is the heart of jewelry production, home to many different manufacturers and workshops. Our expansion into Valenza 1 and 2 reflects our commitment to strengthening our presence in this critical region.”
With these expansions, Buccellati aims to meet the growing global demand for its fine jewelry and luxury products, bolstering its position as a leader in the high jewelry market.
