Jewelry Store in North York Hit in Second Smash-and-Grab Robbery

by Henry

A jewelry store in Fairview Mall has been robbed for the second time this month, according to local police.

Officers responded to reports of a smash-and-grab robbery just before 8:45 p.m. at the mall, located near Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East. Authorities say the robbery involved four suspects, who were reportedly armed with hammers. The suspects allegedly used the hammers to smash open display cases before fleeing on foot with an unknown quantity of merchandise.

Police have confirmed that one suspect is in custody, while they continue to search for the remaining three individuals. No further suspect descriptions have been provided at this time.

This robbery follows a similar incident earlier this month at the same mall, where a group of suspects also used hammers to break open display cases and make off with jewelry. Social media footage from that earlier incident showed several individuals entering the store, armed with hammers, and stealing a significant amount of merchandise.

As of now, there is a heavy police presence in the area surrounding the mall as investigators work to piece together details of the crime.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
