Super Silver, a well-known jewelry store on Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, has reopened its doors after a four-month closure. The store, which has been a fixture in the area for over a decade, shut down temporarily following the death of its founder, George Homer Jr., in September.
In the wake of Homer’s passing, the store’s Santa Cruz location owner, Jacki Truhitte, took over the San Luis Obispo branch. She enlisted her older brother, Jeff Truhitte, to manage the 850 Higuera Street location. “The main goal was to get the store back up and running,” Jeff Truhitte said. “The store was just sitting empty. We wanted to bring it back to life and offer the community what they wanted.”
When the store reopened on December 1, locals quickly expressed their excitement. “There’s been a lot of foot traffic and loyal customers returning,” said Truhitte. Many customers shared their joy, saying things like, “Thank God you’re back, I buy all my rings here.” When informed of the change in ownership, most customers responded positively, mentioning their familiarity with Jacki from the Santa Cruz location.
“It’s been great reconnecting with the community,” Jeff Truhitte added.
Super Silver was originally founded by George Homer Jr. in 1995 in Santa Cruz, and Jacki Truhitte started working there at just 15 years old, according to her brother.
