Many longtime and former customers visited to congratulate Krol, the owner of a jewelry shop that has seen impressive growth since its opening in 2014. Initially, Krol started with a small, 750-square-foot space on Market Street. However, she quickly realized the space wasn’t large enough to accommodate her growing business.
“We were there for three years and soon realized we needed more room,” Krol explained. “So, we moved to 2135 Market St., which is three times the size.”
The shop’s design is both sleek and modern. The lighting features Edison bulb pendants suspended in smoky glass globes, and the walls transition from gray to white. Handmade display cases allow the jewelry to take center stage, while a striking mural at the back of the store catches the eye with an image of a rabbit wearing a crown.
Krol shared that her family is originally from Poland, and her last name, which means “king,” also translates to a shortened version of “rabbit.” This inspired the shop’s logo. “Our designer took the royal rabbit concept and turned it into the perfect logo for the store,” she said.
Before starting her own business, Krol worked for another jewelry designer—her professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. A chance decision to take a jewelry elective during her studies ultimately set her on the path to where she is now.
