A man hired to help the elderly in Virginia Beach has been arrested after stealing jewelry from a senior citizen’s home.
Devin Johnson, 28, worked for Hand N’ Heart, a company that provides in-home care services for seniors. In September, an elderly woman reported that jewelry had been stolen from her home. Police arrested Johnson after tracing the stolen items to pawn shops.
Previous Incident Involving Johnson
Court records reveal that Johnson was involved in another troubling incident earlier this year. In January, an elderly woman was attacked during a robbery at her home. The woman reportedly heard a dog barking in the middle of the night and caught two men attempting to steal a safe. The suspects allegedly struck her with the safe before fleeing. No arrests have been made in connection with that crime, and police have no suspect information.
Prior Concerns at Hand N’ Heart
Documents also state that Johnson had been previously banned from another client’s home. According to the Regional Vice President of Hand N’ Heart, Johnson had asked to use the restroom at a client’s house, but the client later found Johnson searching through their pockets in the bedroom. No charges were filed in that incident.
