In a shocking turn of events, gold and silver jewelry worth ₹1,359,401 has reportedly been stolen from a locker at a well-known cooperative bank’s Nana Peth branch. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the theft.

A 65-year-old woman from Bibwewadi lodged a complaint with the Samarth police station, claiming that the jewelry, which she and her sister-in-law had stored in the bank’s locker, was stolen during this period. According to the complaint, the woman had initially reported the theft to the bank, but the bank’s records showed no evidence that the locker had been opened during the stated timeframe, raising questions about the legitimacy of the storage and the identity of the thief.

Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gitte explained, “It took some time to register the crime as we were initially cross-checking the details. After reviewing bank records and CCTV footage, we have officially filed a police complaint and the investigation is ongoing.”

Following the report, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, along with Inspector Gitte, visited the Nana Peth branch to gather more information. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
