Jewelry brand Ear Sass, founded by Sophie McGown in 2020, has released a new pair of earrings called “The Catherine” to mark the 43rd birthday of Princess Kate (the Princess of Wales). The earrings, priced at £27, are designed in a rose gold C shape, and are launched as a tribute to the Princess.
Ear Sass has gained attention and support from Princess Kate since her appearance at World Mental Health Day 2023, where she wore the brand’s “Issy Star” earrings. The earrings, named after McGown’s cousin Issy Phipps, who tragically took her own life, became symbolic of mental health advocacy. Following Kate’s endorsement, the brand saw a surge in sales, raising £17,000 for the mental health charity Brave Mind.
McGown expressed how deeply moved she was by Kate’s support, describing the Princess’s gesture as an immense emotional boost for both the brand and her family. “To say it meant the world to us as a family would be an understatement,” McGown said.
With every pair of earrings sold, £5 is donated to Brave Mind, further supporting mental health initiatives.
Ear Sass began as a passion project for McGown, and with the pandemic’s impact on daily life, it provided the perfect opportunity to transform her creative ideas into a full-fledged jewelry brand. Now, with Kate’s endorsement and the launch of the new “Catherine” earrings, the brand continues to grow in popularity while contributing to a meaningful cause.
