Ulla Johnson’s collaboration with French artist Julie Hamisky brings together a shared appreciation for nature’s fleeting beauty, translated into precious, organic forms. After seeing Hamisky’s work at her recent New York show at Kasmin Gallery, Johnson was drawn to the artist’s ability to transform flowers and natural symbols into curvaceous, sculptural pieces. This led to a partnership that celebrates both nature and artistry.
The collection debuted at Johnson’s New York show, featuring twelve pieces, including necklaces, earrings, rings, and a belt, alongside one of Hamisky’s sculptures, La Geante, on display. Johnson, a long-time admirer of Claude Lalanne (Hamisky’s grandmother), expressed how closely their worlds align despite working in different disciplines. Both artists’ creations begin with an exploration of fine art and natural gestures, shaping a collection that marries the beauty of craftsmanship with a deep connection to the organic world.
