The Chandannagar police have arrested Rutuja Rajesh Surushe, a woman accused of stealing gold jewelry and cash while working as a domestic help in Vadgaon Sheri. Surushe, a resident near Assembly Church, was involved in two separate theft cases.

The case came to light when a 52-year-old woman from Vadgaon Sheri filed a complaint with the Chandannagar police after returning from a trip to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on February 25, only to discover 27 grams of gold jewelry and cash missing from her cupboard.

Upon investigation, the police found that Surushe, who had worked at the complainant’s house, was responsible for the theft. After her arrest, the police recovered 77 grams of stolen gold jewelry and ₹5,500 in cash from her residence. Further questioning revealed that Surushe had also stolen 60 grams of gold and cash from another woman’s house on Old Mundhwa Road.

The police have seized the stolen jewelry, cash, and a two-wheeler from the accused. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane. Key roles in the investigation were played by Senior Inspector Seema Dhakane, Assistant Inspector Prashant Mane, Sub-Inspectors Ashwini Patil and Laxman Navghane, along with police personnel Kalsait, Girme, and Kakade.
