LaRose Industries has issued a recall for approximately 224,100 Cra-Z-Art Gemex/Gel2Gem jewelry kits due to potential risks of skin, eye, and respiratory irritation as well as sensitization.
Reason for Recall
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated that the liquid resin in these kits can cause irritation or sensitization when inhaled, touched, or ingested. The resin contains hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA), a chemical prohibited in children’s products under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.
Safety Warning & Action Steps
Inspect already created jewelry to confirm it is fully cured.
If there is liquid or residue, do not wear it, and store it away from children.
Once fully cured, the resin no longer poses a hazard.
Recalled Products
The recall includes 10 models of Cra-Z-Art Gemex/Gel2Gem jewelry kits and one refill pack. The affected kits:
Contain a resin bottle and UV setting light to cure the resin.
Are sold in rectangular boxes labeled with “Cra-Z-Art” and either “Gemex” or “crazy gel2gem”.
Parents and caregivers are advised to stop using these kits immediately and follow recall instructions from LaRose Industries or CPSC.
