Ophelia Alickaj, the founder of Crystal Haze, reveals, “The nostalgia bears weren’t meant to be a trend—I never anticipated this at all! It stemmed from a genuine desire to create something that evoked personal memories, hoping others would relate.” She continues, “The concept drew inspiration from my childhood recollections, intertwined with the iconic fashion and memorable music of the 90s. Hence, the nostalgia bears serve as a vibrant tribute to the era that influenced us.”
Given the recent surge in Y2K fashion, with trends like ballet flats, dresses over jeans, and babydoll T-shirts making a comeback, the popularity of this trend isn’t entirely unexpected. It appears that everyone is seeking a slice of fashion nostalgia, transcending borders.
Alickaj notes, “Asia emerged as the primary market for this trend, with top celebrities in South Korea, including BTS, G-Dragon, and Jennie from Black Pink, flaunting the nostalgia bear. The craze then spread to influencers and celebrities across Europe and America, creating quite a stir.”
