Christie’s recent online jewelry auction in New York saw a yellow-diamond ring emerge as the top seller, fetching $327,600. The ring, featuring a 24.36-carat cushion-modified brilliant-cut fancy-intense-yellow diamond with VS2 clarity, met expectations set before the June 14 Jewels Online event.

Overall, the auction totaled $5.3 million, with several pieces surpassing their presale estimates. Notably, an antique natural pearl and diamond necklace from around 1890 sold for $138,000, nearly ten times its high estimate of $15,000. Similarly, a Bulgari necklace adorned with 25 pearls and approximately 100 diamonds soared past its $20,000 estimate to reach $100,800.

Among the standout items was a marquise brilliant-cut diamond ring weighing 4.63 carats, graded D-color and VS2 clarity, which sold for $100,800, surpassing its $70,000 estimate. Additionally, a modified triangular brilliant-cut diamond ring weighing 9.77 carats, with G-color and SI2 clarity, fetched $88,200, exceeding its expected range of $30,000 to $50,000. Meanwhile, an oval brilliant-cut Kashmir sapphire ring accompanied by 12 old-cut diamonds sold for $75,600, more than doubling its upper price estimate of $30,000.

The auction’s success underscores strong demand for high-quality jewelry in the online marketplace, with collectors eagerly bidding on exceptional pieces that exceeded their anticipated values.
