Steady Business at Indian Pavilion at Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong

The Indian Pavilion at Jewellery & Gem ASIA (JGA) Hong Kong, held from June 20-23, reported steady business activity. The event was supported by India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

Organized by Informa Markets, the JGA show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is a major mid-year B2B sourcing platform for the gems and jewellery industry in Asia.

The India Pavilion featured 12 exhibitors showcasing a range of Indian-manufactured jewellery, polished diamonds, and colored gemstones. Spanning 117 square meters, it highlighted the diversity and craftsmanship of India’s gem and jewellery sector. The Pavilion was located in Hall 3FG for diamonds, Hall 3C (Concourse) for gemstones, and Hall 1AE for jewellery.

Ashay Mehta of Mumbai-based A.J. Mehta & Co. LLP commented, “We did not have big expectations, but the show was good for us.” Mehta noted that while overall business was slightly lower due to cautious stocking, their regular clients, many of whom are designers, sought them out at the show.

Jatin Hariani of Jaipur-based Jatin Gems observed that business was slower than the previous year but expressed plans to return next year. Jatin Gems specializes in semi-precious gemstone-set jewellery for casual wear. Hariani noted that semi-precious stones like tanzanites, tourmalines, turquoise, and amethysts are currently popular due to the high prices of precious gemstones.

Ankit Shah of KOLORS reported high interest in natural colored diamonds, a segment holding steady unlike the softer white diamond market. Shah mentioned a significant sale of a 3-carat green diamond at the show. He added that Argyle pink diamonds remain sought after and stable in price.

Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, emphasized the importance of the Hong Kong market for Indian gem and jewellery exports. He noted that the show provides a vital platform to showcase the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of Indian products to a global audience.

The 2024 India Pavilion at Jewellery & Gems Asia Hong Kong included exhibitors like H R Diam, KOLORS, Venu Diamond, and A.J. Mehta & Co. LLP in Hall 3FG for loose diamonds. The gemstone section in Hall 3C (Concourse) featured Chordia Gems Private Limited, Royal Gems Impex, and M S Gems. In Hall 1AE for jewellery, exhibitors included Pietre Del Mondo, Jatin Gems, Panchoo Jewels LLP, and Surya Jewellers.
