Taylor Swift’s cat, Benjamin Button, is no stranger to fame. The feline made headlines last December by appearing on the cover of Time magazine alongside Swift, who was named the 2023 Person of the Year. Now, Benjamin Button is in the spotlight again, this time as the centerpiece of a custom pinky ring gifted to Swift by her close friend, Gigi Hadid. Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, are eager to uncover the personalized details and secret engravings of this unique piece.
The ring, created by British fine jewelry brand Cece Jewellery, was showcased on Instagram earlier this week. Cece Fein-Hughes, the brand’s founder, expressed her excitement about working on a piece for Swift. “This project was unique because I had already designed a sketch for our social media campaign where followers guess the celebrity pet,” Fein-Hughes explained. Model Gigi Hadid then commissioned her to turn the sketch into a reality, with a few personal touches.
“We wanted it to symbolize her favorite things, so they could always stay close to her,” Fein-Hughes said. The ring features a portrait of Swift’s beloved Ragdoll cat and two tattoo-style flaming hearts bearing the numbers 13, Swift’s lucky number, and 87, the jersey number of her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce. A subtle engraving inside the band, “TTPD,” references Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” a detail requested by Hadid.
Cece Jewellery specializes in one-of-a-kind commissions, handcrafted using 18-carat gold and champlevé enameling. The brand, launched in 2019, has gained a cult following. Their bespoke pinky ring service starts at £3,200, offering clients the opportunity to recreate precious memories with diamond accents and petite pearls.
“I love sketching personal symbols and motifs that hold deep meaning for people, crafting them into a miniature magical story they can cherish forever,” Fein-Hughes said. “The inspiration behind these pieces is limitless. Our customers draw on wonderful things that may not look significant to us but hold deep meaning for them.”
Cece Jewellery often receives unique commissions. “Pets are a huge part of what we do. For many people, pets are like children, so it’s wonderful to offer a way to keep them close, forever immortalized,” Fein-Hughes shared. One recent commission featured Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man with Game of Thrones-inspired dragon wings against a galaxy backdrop. Another current project is a Disney-themed piece featuring a Birkin Bag.
