Police are searching for eight men involved in a robbery at a jewellery store in Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria, on Monday.
Colonel Mavela Masondo, the provincial police spokesperson, reported that the robbery occurred in the afternoon. The group of armed men held employees at gunpoint and fired shots as they fled the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Masondo added that the suspects looted the store, stealing an undisclosed amount of jewellery. The exact value of the stolen items is still unknown. A case of business robbery has been opened, and police are actively seeking the suspects.
Mall spokesperson Monica Brits confirmed the incident. She stated that police were present at the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.
“No injuries were reported, and business resumed as normal,” said Brits. She emphasized that the mall is taking the incident seriously and prioritizing the safety and well-being of shoppers, staff, and tenants. Brits also expressed gratitude for the quick action and cooperation of everyone involved.
