Pomellato’s Milan-Inspired High Jewellery Collection

by Jasmine

Pomellato, founded in Milan in 1967, continues to craft every piece by hand, showcasing skills and styles linked to this vibrant city. It’s no surprise that Pomellato’s latest high jewellery collection, directed by Vincenzo Castaldo, pays tribute to Milan. The theme? The Duality of Milan.

The grand unveiling at Museo della Permanente in June, hosted by CEO Sabina Belli, saw attendance from celebrity friends and clients like Carla Bruni, Hande Ercel, Lucy Hale, Benedetta Porcaroli, Philippine Leroy Beaulieu, Janice Man, and Jodie Turner Smith.

The collection reflects Milan’s essence, with designs inspired by the city’s glass skyscrapers and austere architecture, alongside vibrant, stone-encrusted pieces echoing Milan’s creativity and historical monuments like the majestic Duomo.

New Horizons

“We started our high jewellery journey five years ago,” says Vincenzo. “It was a way to express a richer, more precious part of the brand, highlighting its history, philosophy, and creative vision.” The aim was also to transform this vision into business success, which the enthusiastic response from core clients has confirmed.

Vincenzo believes the brand’s history and strong design codes are a “huge source of inspiration.” His deep connection with Pomellato, having led it since 2015, strengthens his ability to translate the brand’s intentions into contemporary designs.

Core Values

Pomellato prioritizes wearability, a trait integral to its Milanese lifestyle and attitude. “We always consider if a woman can comfortably wear each piece,” Vincenzo explains. This approach aligns with the founder’s vision of creating beautiful, dressy jewels that are also versatile enough for everyday wear.

A tour of the atelier reveals the meticulous skill and patience required to craft each piece. “It takes time,” Vincenzo says modestly, emphasizing the brand’s deep roots in goldsmith traditions and the crucial role of their artisans.

Regional Relevance

The collection, featuring 52 pieces, the largest yet, was showcased to clients at Pomellato’s hub the day after the launch. The unique, one-off pieces, like the Spinelli di Fuoco with its rare spinels and fiery colors, and the Barocco with a 34-carat Paraiba tourmaline, were particularly appealing. Creating these pieces was like solving a puzzle, says Vincenzo, highlighting the challenge of finding perfect stones and structures.

Pomellato’s first Middle Eastern boutique opened in Dubai Mall two years ago, and the brand aims to expand in this market, recognizing the region’s connoisseurs and collectors.
